Over the last ten years, I’ve heard some wild things.
“I channeled my inner Kerry.”
“I pulled a Kerry move today.”
“We used a little Kerry Dust in the meeting.”
Every time someone says that, I smile. Not because of the phrase itself, but because of what it means underneath: boldness, grit, and the kind of guts it takes to push through discomfort and do the thing anyway.
And if that’s what people are picking up from my story? I couldn’t be prouder.
What I want you to know is this:
You don’t have to wait until you’re “ready.”
You don’t need perfect timing, a degree, or a green light.
What you need is the courage to step into the unknown—and the humility to grow through it.
Disruption Was My Normal
I’ve lived through more change than most people see in a lifetime. By the time I hit adulthood, I had moved over 26 times. No internet. No cell phones. No way to stay connected with friends. So, you learned not to get too attached. You learned that everything could change, and usually would, without warning.
One day, a missionary visited our church in California. The next day, my parents told us we were selling everything and moving overseas to become missionaries ourselves. I was in 3rd grade. I didn’t fully understand it, but I remember the weekend of the estate sale, watching strangers walk out the door with my toys, my bed, my stuffed animals. That moment rewired me.
We sat on the floor, no furniture, no plan except a plane ticket, and I realized that the only thing I could count on was change itself.
Change Isn’t the Enemy. It’s the Classroom
That’s why, to this day, I rearrange furniture every few months.
Why? Because change is familiar. Movement is safe. Reinvention is how I breathe.
But over the years, that survival mechanism evolved into something bigger: a superpower.
I learned to challenge the norm.
I learned to ask better questions.
I learned to look at problems through different lenses, and that has led me to meet some of the most extraordinary people, build life-altering solutions, and become a version of myself I never imagined possible.
I am not the same person I was ten years ago. Not even last year. And that, to me, is the whole point of growth.
Let Me Ask You Something…
What would you do if you couldn’t fail?
What would you try?
Who could you become?
I believe the world is waiting to find out.
But not the polished, pretend version of you. The real one.
The one who’s scared and does it anyway. The one who rearranges furniture, questions the rules, shows up with cookies, and asks, “What if?”
That version? She changes things.
So today, I hope you pull a Kerry.
Say the thing. Try the scary idea. Make the move.
Use a little dust, a little guts, and a whole lot of heart.
Because you never know who you’ll inspire when you finally become who you were meant to be.

I’d love to hear from you. What was the scariest idea you ever acted upon? How did you feel afterwards?
