The Cost of Disruption

What It Really Took to Build What I Did

By Kerry Frank   August 15, 2025

Disruptors aren’t celebrated at first.
They are resisted.
Dismissed.
Misunderstood.

If you’re building something no one’s ever seen before, you already know the real cost isn’t just the risk. It’s being the one in the room that makes everyone uncomfortable.

I know, because I lived it.

I walked into rooms where I didn’t look like the founder they expected.
I offered solutions that challenged the way billion dollar companies had operated for decades.
I introduced ideas that required people to let go of control, and not everyone liked that.

Disruption sounds exciting on paper.
But behind the scenes?

It cost me sleepless nights, strained relationships, and more than a few silent drives wondering if I was crazy for thinking this would work.

And yet, I wouldn’t trade it.
Because I didn’t just want to build a company.
I wanted to change an industry.
And you don’t do that by asking for permission.

So if you feel the weight of doing something bold, if you’re being met with resistance, silence, or slow nods that scream “she makes us nervous”.
You’re probably on the right path.

You don’t need to soften your edge to be accepted.
You need to stay sharp enough to finish what you started.

Welcome to the table Disruptor. You belong here.

 With Gratitude,

~ Kerry
